Hip Abductor Machine

This hip abductor machine from Paeta has a solid build, very good quality of materials, and was relatively easy to assemble.

During assembly, I thought I was missing bolts and washers, but they were already pre-installed in the leg cushions. You need to remove the bolts from the leg cushions before installation in Step 5 of the instructions. Also, two washers were curved and two lock nuts had cups, and they were not listed in the Parts section. You will need to use the curved washers in Step 1 and the cupped lock nuts in Step 4.

There are three levels of resistance, and if this is not enough, you can always use resistance bands in addition during exercises. I also like to hold my legs for 30 seconds at the maximum open range every 5 repetitions.

I have a sedentary job for prolonged hours, so I use this hip abductor machine to prevent Dead Butt Syndrome (DBS), or gluteal amnesia, when glute muscles weaken from inactivity and go dormant, losing their ability to stabilize the pelvis, which in turn leads to pain in the hips, lower back and knees, and potential nerve issues. This machine is very useful to strengthen my glutes and hips that play a role in knee stability and also strengthen muscles that support the pelvic floor. And strengthening these groups of muscles has another benefit in the prevention of bladder leakage and decreased urgency or incontinence typical in older age.

This machine is great for doing these exercises in the comfort of my home, and I can use it even while watching TV. It is compact enough and can be stored in a vertical position.

This hip abductor machine is made well overall and feels sturdy for a compact home gym unit. The setup was straightforward, and I appreciated that it didn't take up much space. For someone like me who doesn't usually focus on glute or thigh isolation work, this machine definitely activates those muscles - you can feel it working after a few sets.
However, the resistance levels might not be enough for someone who regularly trains this area. It offers three levels, but even at the highest setting, more advanced users may find it too light. Since there's no way to add extra weight or resistance, I could see this machine having limited long-term use for people looking to keep progressing.
The fit and finish also need a bit of improvement. In my unit, one of the end caps was missing - something you can see in the product images - and that gap allows the pad to shift around a little more than it should. It doesn't really affect the workout, but it takes away from an otherwise solid design.
Overall, it's a good piece of equipment for beginners or casual users wanting to target glutes and thighs at home, but the lack of upgradable resistance and a few small quality issues hold it back from being a long-term solution.

This is so much nicer than expected. It is actually very solid and Sturdy. Took my husband about 15 minutes to put it together.
It is only to abduct not adduct too. But I think you could set it up with bands attached to other points and make it work if you really wanted to because the thigh pads spin either direction.
I am 5'3", 135lbs, so an easy fit for me. A large man would probably be a little cramped.
The seat itself isn't very big. It has 2 settings for how to do the band depending on how much resistance weight you want. I think it would need to be a stronger band/rope for someone that is used to doing these moves.

3) I was surprised at this machine, first because it was quite heavy, which, for the price, I wasn't expecting. It is made out of an alloy steel,l which means it should last a long time. Putting it together was somewhat easy except for the pads. The screws for the pads are actually screwed into the pole of the pad, so you have to unscrew them to use it. All I had to assemble this with was the tools that they gave me, and the L-wrench was all I had to get this screw unscrewed from the pole of the pad. I ended up hammering the L-wrench to loosen it enough to unscrew it. The other thing is that when you actually screw the pad into the machine, the holder for the pad and the bar for the foot rest are almost in the way when you try to put the screw into the leg pad. Fortunately, I was able to use my finger and thumb to get it in most of the way, and then the L-wrench barely worked to get it tight. Once finished, it seemed to work fine. I'm at the beginner level, and that requires me to work at it, so this should be great for the inner thighs.

First and foremost, the most obvious point is its targeted approach - it primarily works the glutes, outer thighs, and hip muscles. The exercise feels very precise; it's not one of those machines where you're moving but don't know which muscles you're working. For those looking to improve their glute shape and strengthen lower body stability, this is the right direction. The equipment's structure and stability are reassuring; the base is solid, and it doesn't wobble when performing abduction exercises, providing a good sense of security. The resistance levels are clearly defined, and adjustment is straightforward. Beginners can start with low resistance and gradually increase, while those with more experience can also progressively increase the intensity. In terms of size, it's more compact than I expected; it doesn't take up much space in my home gym area and is easy to move after use.

Overall, this is a targeted and practical home fitness equipment, especially suitable for those who want to focus on glute and hip training and improve lower body definition at home. It's not a flashy piece of equipment, but its strengths lie in its stability, space-saving design, and clear muscle engagement. With consistent use, the results are noticeable. If you know you're specifically looking for glute and hip training, this is a worthwhile option to consider.
